At the time of this post, the most recent posts on this site are about my exploration of game development with Unity. This has been one of the most enjoyable things I’ve done in recent memory.
However… circumstances in my life have brought my game development activities to a screeching halt.
I’m the founder and part-owner of a company. For the past year, I’ve also had a day job with another company. I have come to be very fond of the people, the intentions, and the clients that make up my day job. I’ve generally had a plan to get back to my company, eventually. It has become apparent that the best choice for our clients – and for me – is to shift back to my company and contract with my day-job company.
The result? I’m still working my day job full time for now, and I’m also trying to get everything together so that my company can do its best work for our shared clients.
Gaming has been a part of my life since Pong. I worked for a game development company in the nineties, and I’m fascinated with the tech behind game dev. My explorations into Unity and C# have made me a stronger developer, no matter where things go from here.
When it comes to code, no matter how much some of us love it for its own sake, its main benefit is in how it improves the lives of the many creatures who inhabit our planet. My spare time, at the moment, has become devoted to the same people who my day job helps, and while that has taken me away from learning game development, it’s not a loss… not by any stretch.
I might not be posting game dev updates for a minute… but it’s good. It’s all good.
P.S. The title of this post comes from a 1962 musical of the same name. I never saw it, but somehow the title worked its way into my brain and never left.
